Mid Century Modern

This project we had client who had his own style
which to be kept in his new home.
The client family is from New York and they have a love of ‘mid century modern style’,
most of the current furniture they wanted to keep for the new place was from Design
within Reach’s classic. With careful observations of their belongings we started a
research of mid century modern interior design. And from the research we carefully
selected design elements that can be applied to our project in our own way.
From our first meeting we found out what kind of materials they like and
which they don't, and also the colors that they love.
Using the tone and material that they love this mood board was made.
Along with diagrams.
We came up with these designs themes (1st attempt)
Use of Wood veneers on the wall surfaces where it needed to be focused as surroundings and backgrounds. Material with all over surface creates a mood of zone, and depends on the material that is over it, it can be soft warm cozy space to bright vibrate space too. And use of all over surface wall could create a illusion of certain zone as a big block of material that existing inside the space.
Client wanted to have a living room zone that can be changed upon use. So we opened the wall that was blocking the study and living room and created a wide opening with two large sliding doors. And also created the large sliding door between the family room and living room. And chose material to make the sliding door to fit into space, relating to the tone of the space. Oak wood texture that is dominating in space and warm tone as accented wall. So keeping the warm tone, chose bronze finish stainless steel to create sliding doors. But on the sliding door between the family room, used the bronze glass to create privacy for using the restroom that is in the family room and.
Use of color - white (Off White) / Benjamin Moore
Client originally wanted pure white on the rest of the wall but use of pure white in resident space doesn't look nice. So we have given them alternative options of off white. Which create better mood of warm and cozy.
